Got a few bolts delivered for the front end (thought I'd better as the others were a bit old and corroded). Tad expensive as special Jag ones with some of them drilled for wiring.

Front end now all derusted. Just needs a bit of a grind and polish. Started to polish up the calipers before sending them off in the new year for refurb and plating.

No movement in garage for two weeks has allowed all the crap off the front suspension bits to settle everywhere. Everything that wasn't covered now has a fine black dust coating.
Back to work on polishing calipers prior to getting them rebuilt and plated.
Some rust spots have appeared on the bits I shot blasted so I am going to try dipping some of the smaller bits in phosphoric acid and see what happens.

This phosphoric acid seems like good stuff. 10 litres of the 81% strength (neat) in a large plastic storage container and I've done ALL the front end bits (wishbones, calipers, hubs etc.) After a good few hours soak all the rust spots have gone and the surface is a uniform grey colour. Hopefully after a bit of cleaning up to remove all the casting and pit marks they should remain rust free.

Been for my yearly mot at the docs this morning - all ok. Bp ok, cholesterol ok, weight down, pee in bottle ok, arthritis stable, blood sugar hmmmmm. Told to cut down on the old vino and exercise more - as normal. Anyway due to a reduction in size, the project for this weekend is to try and make my 3XL wrap around club shirt into a size that fits. Looks easy on internet, so see how it goes Split front calipers tonight for a bit of a clean up and polish.

Think I might be wasting my time polishing these calipers as there's not much of them to be seen. They'll be like a mirror soon. I'm not supposed to building a show car, but just something a pensioner can drive around in
