Well, after 30yrs or more it turns over.
Removed fan belt and plugs and connected starter. Oil pressure jumped right up and no rattly lifters.
Its on facebook with crap i phone sound. When I can get the vid onto my pc I'll upload a copy here.

Just put some coolant in and its pissing out the thermostat cover, bolts inaccessible with distributor/blower snout and belts in the way. Hope to get at them with dizzy cap, belts and alternator adjuster off. Bummer

Never used to run a thermostat and thought I would try one this time, now I remember why I didn't fit one first time. The stat must not have been a good fit in the offey manifold and it slipped down a bit pushing the gasket down and not allowing a good seal. New gasket not available till end of next week, stat binned.

Weather looks fine today so I might try out one of the compressors and a bit of shot blasting.

Spring retainers and collets to rebuild rear dampers to figure out where to mount rear dampers on bottom wishbones.
Rain on the horizon so I've decided to paint the compressor instead.
New gasket and bypass hose due later this week, managed to get stat housing off without too much hassle using a 1/4" drive socket and wobble bar.
