thought I may as well put the polps build up on as it's still not quite finished and probably never will be with what's going on at the moment lol, still need to finish interior and I'm thinking of another engine.
after being in a car accident I had plenty of time in a wheelchair to strip polish n rebuild my dellortos (so it probably wont run again lol) also polished what else I could and finished most of the engine including starter alternator etc, the rad is just dummy fitted for now as it has a hole that needs repairing, if anyone knows anyone that could repair it locally?
My mate Danny did a great job of modifying the manifold to clear the steering colum
and he also made the gearbox mount and some lowering blocks which he welded on today, until I can afford to 4 link it
I wasn't sure how much throw to have on the clutch pedal so I welded on a bracket with two holes, in case I had too much or not enough throw, I did a simular thing with the throttle pedal too
Got the prop shortened balanced and painted for £70 localy which made me happy
gonna tackle the brakes next
didn't get too much done as the exhaust was a right pain, first my dogs tried a straight and over axle bend but had no joy
so I got this lot from quick fit.......I wish, I'd be lost without Danny so a big thumbs up to one of the best welders I've seen in a long while
Calipers all painted
rear disc conversion only cost me 100 quid including new caliper seals, discs n pads weyhey
Its running now after 15 years so brake lines to do and she's there mechanicly, just body work to do which should be fun after kids used the roof as a trampoline lol
finally got brake lines n bias valve plumbed in with only a half dozen leaks so was able to drive it back into garage for first time ever, my son came for the 6 foot backward cruise too.
painted the dash so I could fit clocks
What a cool Fathers day prezzy
He even fitted it for me too (with Mums help)
Has anyone stripped Recaros? what a pain in the bottom
but worth it when ya mates Mum sends em back like this
I think she did a fantastic job, especially to say shes never done car seats before, so a big shout goes out to Averil and her hubby for their hard work, thanks
I'm off now to line up the panels
havn't seemed to make progress as had problems with the electric wiper moter conversion and electrics but theyre sorted now,
we replaced the rear valance
and I also found water pouring from the core plug behind the flywheel what a bummer
Danny modified the bonnet to clear the rad cap cos like a muppet I mocked up the rad without the cap
I also prepped and stone chipped the inside the wings an front panel I also painted the fuel tank and prepped an primed the inside the doors and shuts
I've put thebodywork on hold while I've been preppin it for the mot which is in the morning, cos I promised myself I'll have it at the street rod nationals this week, if it passes hopefully i'll get in primer this week
Decided to put a coat of primer on even though the bodywork is far from done so it could at least be one colour for the nats
and by 7 o'clock we were all ready to go
we set off at nine and broke down 30 miles up the road, finally got home after midnight, I'll try again tomorrow, if I cant sort it we'll have to go in my crappy banged out an ready to also breakdown saab, soz for the rantin but I'm pee'd off lol
Not a lot to see to say how long its been since an update as I've been running it into the ground  , and found more work for my chief welder Danny who modified the gearbox crossmember for more ground clearance, also had clearance issues with the front arches so he had to shorten the wheelbase slightly  , and rear tires were rubbing during cornering but a big hammer and a panhard rod sorted that
Danny in action with his sidekick as I can't do anything thats heavy anymore
hopefully in the next update we will have a paint job
a small tribute to my Sister, Cousin and Auntie who all recently lost their battle with cancer at a shockingly young age, only a sketch in marker pen but I will airbrush it on when I paint the car
well after a two week battle to get it painted for classic ford show I got it 95%, done just needs a polish and the chrome trim fitting, aside from getting there 11 hours late, setting the tent up inside out and being told I couldn't put my car on display as I hadn't pre booked , me and my son had a great time as always as he likes the cars more than me
got the rest of the dash fitted but carpet and roof lining will have to wait 'till funds allow :sniff:
still waiting for the side trim clips, I made my own for the grill but didn't fancy making another 34 of em, gonna give it a rest for now as I've just started college but I'll get some more pics when the side trim is on
the trim clips and boot badge came today but I snapped the badge in two when cleaning it :shake:
I know I said I was gonna airbrush this on but A: I havn't got any airbrush paints yet and B: I havn't had no practice yet and don't wanna mess it up lol, so my mate cut the design on his vinyl cutter, gonna get some paints soon though.
probably be a while until an update as I'm skint lol
