Went to beer fridge in garage tonight and missus was cleaning some shoes and said there was a funny plastic smell. Looked up and one of the tubes was half on and the starter was glowing. Went to change the starter and it was RED hot. Turned off lights and removed this.

She never even noticed one of the 7 tubes was off, the garage absolutely stunk, couple of minutes later it could have gone up.
It was an Asda starter, been in about 6 months but all the markings were in the melted bit.
Don't like her in the garage as she cut my machine mart swivel chair last week moving it out of the way to get to the freezer.

Shit! That could have been bad! Consider a new fitting? Surely the ballast should have let go before that melted?
