So with a Piss wet Thursday the NHRC set about the Journey down with very clean cars, that was the last of the clean bit then! Little did we know just what a belting weekend would unfold....
We waited for Deano at the layby near the M1. A few admiring glances already, must be the 'Borrowers' in fancy dress!!
So if I could use a popular sentance from a few years ago.... 'Hang on i'll just stop and pick that bit up'. We left Leicester Forest Sevices, a bolt in my wheelie bar wheel snapped and almost hit Grum and Andy, the wheel bounced, overtook me, kissed Deano's tyre once ot twice and came to a lonely stop in the centre reservation where it currently resides. Sorry guys that really could have been nasty. We met up with Chris Unitt (Owner of Yesterday's Dreams and general good guy) at Watford Gap and I made a couple of quick secures of the wheelie bar before setting off once again.
So with cars re fuelled we arrived a Billig, the rain stopped and we pitched up.
Then the rain came again, so with the cars covered, we made a move on Chris' truck - now empty, we strapped our chairs in and went for a coverd cruise in the 'Venga Bus', Pam couldnt wait, was that excited she had a little accident, but not to worry the Health and Safety man soon had it covered and under control with a sign.
A right o'l Dads Army of a time, you had to be there but when I say that was a blast, we just howled for an hour! Cheers Chris!
Grum. we cleared our beer cans, you really should cut down on the beer mate, this lot is binge drinkin mate, get some help! ;D
Now to say that Thursday the weather was pretty poor, Friday was a different kettle of fish. Deano - in true Brit tradision nicked the only sun bed and assumed the position, I need to be quicker with my towel next time!!
So we had a Cruise around, one of what turned out to be many runs round, and man was it just a bucket load of fun....
AS it turned out we were all really chuffed with where we camped, not too noisy, apart from Andy & Chris' generator, thats in the canal next year! But we were able to sit in the sun and watch the cars roll round, I recon we get that spot next year.
That reminds me - must get a new Wok!!
This was blastin round all weekend, loved it!!
Eddie Boomtown, its just sooo right!
Grum got wet pants and increased heart rate with this, but we'll get to that later.
I soo like this.....
Ians Pop has been around forever and always looks like its its first year out.....
A job lot of bule paint can go a long way, these two were about as much as we where....
Err, no I dont get it either.......
This could be yours for 8 Large.....
This guy is 24, His dad built this and sold it some years ago. He has a pic of him as a baby sat on the Chassis. He found it in Scotland and pesterd till the guy sold it to him. He's going to restore it to how it was when it was first built, brilliant tale behind it, too long for here....
Poorly Wheelie Bar....
Is that Pam on the back of that truck again???
So Crusin Billig in Grum's T, I was approached by a Guy for a lift back to his Caravan, turns out he owned the Chopped A that Grum loves, so I worked a favour for a favour gave him a lift back and as promised 10 mins later this pulled up, he got out took Grum's keys and gave him the keys to the A, I gave Grum a toilet roll and off they burbled......
For the next hour he looked like 'Grommit'' with a big fat stupid grin on his face... Happy Days!!!
Next Up was a good mate of mine Steve Elliot, seemingly always loved Yesterdays Dreams, so jumped into mi Cilla Black dress had a word with Chris and Suprise suprise, off ya go mate.......
Dranny's Wet Dream.......Unloved.
Super Clean Mussie.....
Followin Chris' Steak overload in the Pub, the chair bit it, we got a crane in and got Chris upright but also got a pot hole!! ;D
Ronnie brought his toy box...........
So after one of the cruises round the Park, we got back to find this on my windscreen....... Oh how we laughed!!
Trickster, formerly a real nice show car has sufferd the ravages of time, this needs saving now, like before the years out, shame.
Russ Peppers 'Green Pepper' has been around a couple of years now but boy what a car - worthy of another pic or two.
As more of the club arrived we began to worry about the room 7 cars quickly turned to 9.....
What a group of reprobates!
I love this Humber it looked really sharp....
So we elected to not go on the cruise but rather chill out in the sun with a beer and check the trade stalls, but we would watch some of the cars leave, they made me bloody walk aswell!!!
Steve Elliots 'Old Iron'' still looks great....
Grums Sex Aid, makes him cum every time!! ;D
I'd have this tomorrow.....
Stuart Revills Fleetside still looks great 8 years down the line...
Still Owned by Phil Tricker, the 'Trickster really needs some love, I so hope he saves it, he just doesn't seem bothered.
Up for sale, the Ex- Tivoli Fordson looks and sounds like a riot!
Built by Carl Powels this is one smart Rod.
Dranny need to see this one, it was mad!!! The skull lights up, looks ace at night!
Hot Rodders always find a way to cruise, irrespective of circumstance!!
This made us all smile!!
Now Deano had it pointed out to him that part of his back pillar had primer in the shape of a penis painted on it, well un deterred he shot to Halfords for rubbing paper and primer and this is the result, I think you're all horrible to him!!
So Slipped mi Cilla Black dress on again, Chris loved Steve Dave Mick Fletchers Coupe, so I had a word and SUPRISE SUPRISE..... these pics are for you mate, if you ever figure out how to turn a pc on that is!! ;D
Hell Ive liked some cars in my time, though I cant say ive ever licked the tyres!! ;D
...and its anyones guess what he's doing here, must have all got a little too much!
Right, it comes to something when your husband wont let you drive his rod, Deano ya gotta sort Pam out, clearly she needs to cruise the site, I think a mixture of the sun and cars lead her to running up and down the road making 'Brum Brum' noises, have a heart mate.....
Mike and June Key stopped past to take some pics and detail on Yesterday;s Dreams, Chris' comment.....Feck he wanted to know a lot, who's he? Bless him!!
So as the evening drew in on Saturday, Andy W told me he missed haveing a rod to cruise in, The Cilla Black dress came out again, Suprise Suprise, we played musical cars and Andy had a circuit in everyones, that got his Geordie Mojo back and applied the usual Grommit Smile!!
Even our own NHRC Tot Rodder Matthew kept up!!
This has just reminded me .....must watch Star Trek.....
A further cruise through the caravans turned up another ex NHRC car, Al Yates' Pop, still looking sharp.
Now I thought that mooning died in the seventies, sadly 'Hairy Arse Tebbs' didnt thinkso, a full set of sunshine hit us as we cruised past their camp....
Hurdy Gurdy with the knife, Hurdy Gurdy in the pot, I don't know if Andy's cooking that chicken or trying to Magic Smagic it back to life lookin at his hands??!!..... ;D
And the winner of the fancy dress cometition is.........THe Worm!!
The Billing Nigght Time Drags.....
Every car needs an axle light.....
Errr?
Feckin Ruined.....
Add to basket......
This is nice but with the engine that low, I can only think he goes through more sumps per mile than gas!!
Still looks nice, but I wouldnt swop back.
Vitamin T another ex CC car, just a shame no one saw it as Mick built it, it was a monster, now a tad more sedate, nice though none the less.
Great to see Andy and his Mini Van out and about again...
And so, tired, and happy, a merry band of rodders hit the road home, guys that was a superb weekend and another great NHRC memory, The mighty NHRC premier club of the north!! Thanks for a great weekend everyone. Nats next ten!!
What a club!!
Hope you enjoyed em.
