So tempting fate we seem to be hammerin on quite nicely now. A bit more work done, we got the dash re positioned and mounted. Then we set about the front fenders. The new motorbike tyres have a smaller profile making the gap between the wheel and fender too big. We cut the supporting brackets, reworked the bracketry and got a more appealing look... Bit more done on the bulkhead too so we can get it in paint on Saturday hopefully! .

So with the date for paint and interior for D's T looming I took a bit home to do. We had an idea for him to run the car numberplateless (is that a word?) at shows. When I had my Model A I did a plate that flipped up underneath the rear panel, so I set about replicating it for D's T. The front plate weve engineerd a way to make it easily removeable, so just the back to do. using sprung cupboard hinges, yes you read that right, i need a way to fix them to the rear body. I got a piece of timber slightly longer than the number plate (a new plate will be arranged) and decided where the brackets needed to be and marked them up. I countersunk the holes and fixed the hinges. Drilled the back to add adheasion so we can glass in the timber brace to the underside rear of the body out of sight. hey presto..... Once the brace is glassed and screwed in place and the hinges and plate re attached hey presto .... dissapearing number plate.

Where's the number plate light disapearing to ??
Need a pull/push cable on weaker hinges and you can run with plates up till you see plod, then drop them down.

D's got some number plate bolts that illuminate sideways so we'll use thoes to fasten the plate to the brackets and wire them up.

Frenched perspex plates polished ontop, a couple of holes in top of frenched part and a light inside. Shines straight through plates with no visible means of light.

I like thoes they look really good, especially when under thin paint like candies, but i dont think theyd suit D's T.
