Last September just after the Model A arrived a guy knocks on my door asking if i had any spares for it, He a classic car guy owns a model A and needed a steering box it just happens i have one says i but its connected to a colum with a good original steering wheel but it will need rebuilding, I told him give me a couple of days to get it off and he could have it. A few days later he called back but i hadnt been able to get the steering box off (can you see where this is going?) yes i let him take the whole thing and he said he would bring it back next week!!!.I do need the wheel cos its mint and want it for mine. Spoke to him a couple of times still no joy so ive just rung him and asked him to bring it with him to Thornes park this afternoon. So the question is am i just trying to help someone keep another old car on the road or am i a F-----g idiot who should know better at my age? ?

hi ian, not all people are nice, car guys or not! I deal with public/people daily on the 2 nd most expensive/emotive thing in their lives ,their cars! after the house so have some experience! I think what you mean is trust! and I don't have a good answer , you would like to think all "car" guys would be like you, and may be 9 times out of 10, there would have been no problem you would have got the stuff back, but you came upon the "one asshole", I would like to think I would help a stranger out but who knows?, and also I know people who have helped best friends and been shi* on so you pays yer money and takes your choice, but if you know where he lives I am sure we as a club could have a cruise to his pad and request it back ?deano p.s missed you last night?

Problem here Dean is he is in his 80s so having a word in is ear might not be the best of ideas, He is local Horbury/Thornhill, i think he still owns a fabrication company so should not be to difficult to find but got to the point now where i think he dosnt even have the parts anymore, A mint Model A steering wheel is fetching £300+!!!!
