Well on a pretty Drab Sunday afternoon with nothing to do I called over at PKs with a thought that we'd nip to Nige and Cheryl's as he had his Firebird back, and upon the garage dOors being flung open the Consul has just come on leaps and bounds - the quality or sheet metal work is the ususal 'PK' standard and when I say theres a lot of new steel, i mean this car will never need another rebuild - ever. Its truly a nut and bolt build with a lot of (and i mean a lot) of work. I just can't remember all we spoke about but ill stick the pics up and narrate where I can....
Here's an idea of the degree of rebuild were talkin' about here....
An inch and a half on the bottom of the doors all with metal folds and the whole nine yards........
Full new floor....
New bolt in X member for new shox - gonna make for a lot nicer ride.
]
This is where the shox will sit .... neat! Theres enough room for an Axle light in there - aint there PK? Eh?
Bright works all there and waiting patiently....
Boxes of recon stuff, all cleaned ready for re assembly and careful fitting....
Front end, new poly bushing cleaned and painted
The detail is awesome even down to the sill ends - folded in and then welded in rather than just stitched on, aint no corrosin gonna penetrate this again....
door bottoms again, ravageing rust gone....
rapaired arrow streight panels waiting patiently to be fitted for the final time....
The old stuff resides outside....
Hard to believe this wing was once on his previous Consul that sat on a turntable in the Doncaster Custom Show! Now it will be hung on the garage wall as reminder of days gone by...
Engine and newly aquired 4 speed overdrive auto await a clean and rebuild....
PK sent me these pics on earlier, he had it 'Panelled Up'' to check gaps and fit, I think you'll agree this is gonna be one straight car.
So there ya go, Thats PK's build so far, and 'ive yet to find anyone with his patience and ability, never have I known a more capable man with sheet metal.
Keep it coming mate.
