I've just had my new Pete n Jakes complete drop beam front end delivered to start on my Model A, what's the best or most durable finish for the spring. I had in mind powder coating it all but thought that powder coating the spring may not be the best finish, any advice on most durable bearing in mind its full fendered.

I'll ask Martin (black mustang) he's quite knowledgeable with springs. I'll report back.

Powder coating is much more flexible and durable than paint. Saleen (my Mustang) do the suspension dampers and roll bars etc. as standard. A little like modern factory applied paint, the part is negatively charged and the positively charged powder iis sprayed on, this is then baked in an oven. This site has some good technical info: www.e-techpowdercoating.com/about_powder_coating.htmwww.e-techpowdercoating.com/powder_coating_faqs.htmNo need to go to California tho', plenty of guys in West Yorkshire doing it. I have Industrial parts done in Cleckheaton and I had a guy in Castleford do my wheels as its his main line of business. I would guess with springs so long as the oven temp is not too high to temper them, it will be fine. Hope this helps.

First is it a single leaf or multi leaf, If its multi then it will need breaking down to singles then put it back together with rubber strips inbetween think Pop Browns sell it.If you try to coat it in one piece it will just fall off when its in use damp gets under it and it lifts. Make sure the spring eyes are masked up or you wont get the bushes in without rubbing it down and if you rub through it will start to lift first time it gets damp. Oven temp will be 380 to 400F not to sure if this will damage the spring.
