Still working on the oil pump. The pickup pipe was reshaped when the SD1 sump was fitted and now needed a bit of repair work around the filter which resulted in a lot of burnt on crap on the wrong side of the mesh. Been soaking it in a mix of hot oven cleaner and barbeque cleaner and its taken nearly a week to remove. Now its back on with the pump, sump and starter and sort out some temporary wiring.
Is Graham OK, I sent him a pm nearly a week ago and he's not replied yet.

Cillit Bang or brake cleaner is best for that burnt on crap. Ive not heard anything from Grum for a week or so but his daughter was due to have a baby last week so he may be a bit busy.

Oven cleaner and BBQ cleaner mixed then heated up with blow torch till boiling. It eventually turns into something like tar. Wash out in hot soapy water and repeat loads of times. Now like new metal.

Rebuilt and fitted the fuel pump tonight. Waiting for a delivery of some ally plate tomorrow to make a coil clamp and mounting bracket.

Well another day on the van. Got some chrome powder coating done, but didn't think its all that good, just looks like polished alloy. Made a clamp for the ignition coil from an off cut from the valve cover adaptors I made in the 70's to fit the chevy covers. Started making the mounting bracket for the coil clamp tonight from some ally I bought off tinernet 125x125x4mm thick £1.10 free p/p (came in bubble wrap/jiffy bag and 48p stamp) John C
