And so the grinder came out of hibernation and was set to work as was the wire wheel, disc cutter, snips, file and welder. Ladies and gentlemen the Lemon is under way. A small step for man, a giant leap for Lemonkind. :-)

Well we set to with two grinders and a sack full of wite wheels to strip the paint to see whats underneath, its not pretty, but that said I dont think it was a shock to either of us, anyhow, Rock auto do most the panels, what they dont we'll make. We got a start on the back end so thats totally stripped and new metals going in. Previous crap repairs unearthed... Clagged up tin worm... More clag over tin worm... Grinding the paint turned D into "Outspan Man" There was only one way to attack this, we wheeled out "Supergrinder" And were adding metal ..... The Le'mon will soon beat again!

So another Saturday on the Le'mon. Todays taskes. Get "Stevie Windows" in to remove the front and rear glass, cut the roll cage out, remove rest of trim and quarter light windows, all winder mechanisms and door glass, and doors. The doors boot lid etc will be sent for blasting and the rest of the body were well into now so we'll just carry on with that ourselves. First up we removed the cage. Ass twitching time as Steve runs in the cutting wire to release the screen, verry very slowly and carefully..,.. Bit of a git of a job but we got the glass out of the doors, carefully! Rear quarter lights out and the doors were taken off... Cleared some parts boxes out the boot, were quickly running out of room, the amount of boxes of parts that came with it was biblical, so we catalogued what we removed and we now have even more boxes! Then we removed the rear glass and the ali panels fron the rear where the back seat would be and parcel shelf. So a clear out, and we shoved the old girl outside to remove yet more clag!! Whats with the filler on this car? Its buried in it, theres £100s of pounds worth on it for no reason what so ever in the main, its just good panels buried in it!! Its a bloody inch thick on the back wings, and the steel is all strait and pretty perfect, very strange Anyhow one grinder has died and the other is rattling weve done so many hrs on this with the wire brushes. Here ya go, im not exagerating here its clag city!!! So i recon another night on the filler and we can start putting the new panels on. That seat needs bolting in mate, itll never get through a test like that! So that was saturday, we put it back "in storage" till next week. We'll decide on the next job then. Three things in the offing, finish body, pull motor and box, lift body off and renew body mounts. See how we go on and what the mood takes us to do next week. So all in all it really isnt as bad as it fist looked. i did ask D if he thought we could make Leeds on Sat, he said we might if we dont stop for a butty and a pot of tea! Thats positive thinking right there!!

Right, summer holidays over its time to drag the Lemon back out, Ds got a lot of new panels so first up was the rear deck. When we removed the rear screen and surrpunding countless pounds of filler, what we found wasnt pretty. It was a miriad of patches and what wasnt part if the patchwork quilt was rotten. So armed with new tin, a sack full of cutting discs and it began. Be gone rotten tin...... Thats one biiiig panel.... New ones in, i forgot to take a pic. Back Tuesday :-)
